Serving the Blind
With Guide Dogs

The Guide Dog Next Door addresses the problem of expensive guide dogs and provides access to free guide dogs for the blind.

Welcome

The Guide Dog Next Door is a non-profit organization that aspires to alleviate the exorbitant cost of guide dogs for the blind population. We are a minimal guide dog training organization that connects the owners of calm, gentle dogs to their blind neighbors for free access to a guide dog. Volunteers are taught by professional dog trainers to teach neighborhood dogs basic guide dog behaviors. Blind people can use our platforms to book a guide dog when necessary, analogous to Uber. We also draw ideas from Airbnb, Nextdoor, online banking, and jugaad (frugal improvisational problem-solving).

What We Do

Volunteering Programs

We develop volunteering programs where individuals can assist in training low-cost guide dogs, ensuring they are prepared to support blind individuals. We also develop programs to participate in community awareness events for guide dogs and blind individuals and support their well-being.

Guide Dog Connections

We train low-cost guide dogs in a neighborhood and connect them to blind individuals in their neighborhood. This hyperlocality allows for a more integrated and inclusive community for blind individuals to support their well-being.

Waiting for the Bus

We want to help the blind population of the world. By 2027, we aim to achieve these goals.
